We are a group of small animal practices in Edinburgh, first established in the 1950’s. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care.
Jude originally studied zoology at Manchester University and after graduating has worked in everything from boarding kennels to zoos. She joined the practice in 2002 but as the practice has changed over the years she has become more interested in the day to day running of the surgery and has moved from a nursing role into practice management. She has two cats, Dulcie and Gilbert, who are always up to mischief. In her spare time Jude enjoys arts and crafts, especially making her own jewellery.
Kirsty has worked with us since December 2017 and has over 11 years of experience in customer service roles. She loves meeting all our clients and their pets and is particularly interested in animal behaviour. Kirsty loves animals and hopes to become a veterinary care assistant one day. When she isn't working she loves taking her rescue dog, Max, on long hikes around the Pentland Hills, keeping fit and spending time with friends and family.
Eileen joined the practice at the Davidson’s Mains branch as a receptionist in November 2016, after having spent the bulk of her working life in administration in the legal profession. She decided it was time for a change in career and successfully completed an animal care course. Eileen is enjoying meeting and getting to know clients and their pets and wishes she had made the change years ago. She has a soft spot for cats, black cats in particular, and has one of her own called Thomas.
Isabel works as part of our Tollcross team as a receptionist. After completing a veterinary assistant course, she immediately started as a receptionist in a prestigious Portuguese veterinary hospital where she worked for a little over a year before coming to Edinburgh. Besides having furry friends around while working, what Isabel appreciates the most in the veterinary industry is the fellowship between professionals. As a receptionist she loves the interaction with the public and hearing their funny pet stories. As a cat lady without her cats in Edinburgh, she enjoys cat-sitting when she has the chance and getting to know her new country.
Rona was a client for many years at West End Vets with her cats named Meg and Mog before joining the practice in summer 2013. Since then the appeal of the lovely dogs visiting the vets got too much and working Cocker, Murphy came to join her household. Now Rona and Murphy enjoy some lovely walks, occasionally accompanied by Meg the cat following behind at a discrete distance. Rona works at our Morningside branch.
Janette joined the team in 2001 and later moved with her family to live in Belgium and France where she completed her degree in arts and humanities. After moving back to Edinburgh in 2015 she was delighted to re-join the team at Morningside. She has a special interest in farm animal welfare issues and has owned cats, rabbits, a New Forest pony and hens, including a very sociable Blue Maran hen that spent most days preening the family’s Golden Retriever. Janette is an avid reader of historical fiction and is married with two children and three beautiful grandchildren.
Diana joined the practice in the Morningside branch as a receptionist in 2012. She enjoys meeting clients and their pets and loves to hear stories of their adventures (of both pets and owner!). Diana has had a number of pets over the years starting with a hamster, then a goldfish and working to a Norwegian Elkhound and two Staffordshires.
